Does anyone have any advice on going back to school for Information technology (IT)? Best field etc?

Ive decided to go back to school this fall for IT. But im not sure what area to specialize in. From what ive seen security seems to be the most in demand, but Im not sure if its the best to start out in. Is there a better speciality to get an entry level job in? networking, database, etc?Does anyone have any advice on going back to school for Information technology (IT)? Best field etc?
If you want to know the most likely computer careers you'll get a job with in the US, here's the fastest growing computer occupations for 2004-2014, according to the US Dept of Labor (they usually require a bachelors degree and usually make over $43,000):

1) Computer scientists and network systems and data communications analysts

2) Computer software engineers, applications

3) Computer software engineers, systems software

4) Network and computer systems administrators

5) Computer scientists and database administrators

6) Computer systems analysts

Here's the link to the descriptions of each of the jobs: http://www.bls.gov/oco/oco1002.htm

Good luck!Does anyone have any advice on going back to school for Information technology (IT)? Best field etc?
I'm sorry to say you probably won't learn a damn thing in a two year IT degree that is actually useful BUT, it will help you get an entry level position where you can learn some stuff. As soon as you start school, look for some internships in your field to get some real world experience.
school, well you can read alot of books and self learn and take a test to certify you. this would save you alot more money. going to college is just overpaying for a book in my opinion. 1500 per class and thats only the intro of the class. well its your money, decide what you want.
