i'm 15 yr old female and I used to have a fast metabolism and my body burns fat when I just do nothing and sit around with no exercise... but I became seriously ill for a month and couldn't eat much or I'd vomit and my BMR dropped and my metabolism slowed. I didn't realise that and still thought I had fast metabo so after I recovered from a 2 months of not eating much, I ate like a pig and a lot of junk. I got fatter? I'm still not fat yet but I did gain fat, worse than before and I don't like it. But now I'm starting to eat properly. Will my metabolism return to normal like before? I'm really worried.Help me please, metabolism question. ill give points for best answer%26amp;advice?
Hi, i think the fact that you were ill %26amp; stopped eating for a while threw your body out of whack, then you got better %26amp; started eating like a pig - so your metabolism needs time re-adjust.
By you eating erratically it has signalled your body to burn slower and conserve fat. You would be better off having smaller, balanced meals and snacks throughout the day to get back on track.
What you eat influences your metabolism, foods high in sugar, saturated fats, artificial sweeteners and low in water and fiber will slow your digestion, can cause weight gain and leave you feeling like a couch potato.
Drink eight glasses of water each day %26amp; you will have better digestion.
Muscle also speeds metabolism, so maybe when you stopped eating for a long time you may have lost some muscle you didnt know you had, and now you may need to gain it back naturally (with sports, activities etc) for your metabolism to also adjust.
Give it time, your body has been through alot, it will improve %26amp; back to normal if you help it by doing some of the above, excersise %26amp; eat healthy foods for a while.
Good luck!Help me please, metabolism question. ill give points for best answer%26amp;advice?
Hi there,
I had the same problem when I was 10, and mine's sort of sorted itself out. They recommend drinking 1/2 cup lemon juice first thing in the morning to get your system going - it's supposed to be a great artificial metaboliser.
Don't worry too much about it, just eat healthy and exercise regularly.
Hope that's helpful!
its really easy to jump-start you metabolism.
1. eat small portions though out the day
2. eat about 5 times a day for 2 weeks
3. after 2 weeks go back to eating regularly (about 3 times a day)
4. metabolism is back
You can't really help that. I guess sometimes it depends on when you go through ';growth spurts'; and stuff like that.
When I was younger and stuff, I use to have to watch what I eat, but because I am getting older but still a teen I can eat without putting on weight. Mind you that will change when I get older. It's just your body, just watch what you eat and moderate the junk food. If you get what I mean (:
