Moms, can you please give me your best answer/advice?

On gifts for other children (not your own or your adopted kids, etc.) what's the average you spend on a gift? For example a kids birthday. Can you offer your advice or what you consider and what you might spend on a niece/nephew versus a classmate/friend of your child's? Just wondering because I tend to go overboard a bit. I spend $20-25 on other kids' birthdays and my kids MAKE a homemade card (I refuse to pay up to $5 for a card that will just get tossed). For niece/nephew, only a bit more, up to $30.Moms, can you please give me your best answer/advice?
hi! Not a mom but I'm a teen age big sis of a bro thats 4 and I babysit so I consider that close enough for now.


We always spend less than 20 dollars or so on a friend for the younger children from 1-13 or so. As for cousins we spend a bit more.... 25 dollars or so? They're family and it was kind of like an unspoken negotiation with the uncles and aunts as to how much they'd spend on each others kids.

~~~I buy what is within my budget and I can spend freely. I like to enjoy gift giving and can't do that if I spend more than I can afford. So with that first most im mind, I try and get the best choice for that child that I can buy. It seems if I averaged out a years worth of chhildren's gifts it runs about $20 a child.~~~
I usually try to stay around 15-20 for the friends. Although, my kids have a few close friends that I would spend more on. Niece/nephew would be around 25-30.





I do the same thing as CCMM with the cards. I let my kids decide on designing one on the computer or do it completely by hand.
I'd say 20.00 gift. As well as a 20.00 saving's bond of some kind. Pesonally for a gift I'd just go to the hobby store, they have all kinds of neat kits, and things that are always reasonably priced.
20-25 on kids friends and classmates.


25-50 on neices and nephews.
I spend $25 on my neices/nephews. $10-20 on my children's friends.
A $10 gift certificate to a fast food place if they are young. Gift cards always nice for older children as well
you do not need to go over your budget stay within your budget you don't need to go over a $100 dallors
On family, I spend $25 because I have a big family.


On kids friends, no more than $20.
